ChatGPT is Not Google: Stop Making This SEO Mistake
There is a huge misunderstanding happening right now in the SEO world. I see many experts putting all their effort into ChatGPT while ignoring Google. Let’s be clear: Google is still the foundation.
Understanding the Difference
We need to understand that these are two completely different systems:

ChatGPT is an AI language model. It uses a massive linguistic database to answer questions in a conversational way. It is built for Q&A, not for searching the live web like Google does.

The One-Way Street
In a previous article, I mentioned that you can get leads and sales from ChatGPT, but only if you have already done a great job on Google. If your website is optimized and ranks well on Google, AI models might use your data to recommend you.
However, the opposite is impossible. ChatGPT cannot help your site rank higher or get more traffic directly from Google search results.
The “Cole Palmer” Comparison
Don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying ChatGPT isn’t important. It is definitely a key “player” in the game and it’s here to stay. But if we use a football analogy: Google is the “Cole Palmer” of the team (the star player everything relies on).
The LLM Reality: A Mirror, Not a Map
“It is vital to recognize that ChatGPT is fundamentally built on Large Language Models (LLMs). Unlike Google, which acts as a ‘Map’ navigating the live web, an LLM is a ‘Mirror’ reflecting a static, massive library of data. It doesn’t ‘search’; it ‘predicts’ the next best word based on its training. While Google crawls the world in real-time, ChatGPT processes language patterns from the past. You cannot treat a linguistic processor as a discovery engine—they belong to two different technological species.”
My Advice
By all means, pay attention to ChatGPT and AI. But your main priority and your core focus must remain on Google. There is no real comparison between the two because they serve different purposes.
Focus on the foundation, and the rest will follow.
